General Motors Corp. will build a bigger Saturn.
Production is expected to start in mid-1999 for model year 2000.
The new model, a mid-sized sedan, will range in price from $17,000 to $21,000, slightly above the existing Saturn compact prices.
The new Saturn will be built at a GM plant in Wilmington, Del.
GM hasn't announced a name for the new vehicle, which is the first Saturn model built outside the Saturn plant in Spring Hill, Tenn.
Saturn was introduced six year ago, and the no-hassle sales techniques have proven popular with customers. Saturn sales are up almost 2 percent during the first six months of 1996.
