Attorney Richard G. Steele, Dr. Charles H. Cozean and bus~iness~man John Mehner, all of Cape Girardeau, have been named to the advisory board of AmeriFirst Bank in Cape Girardeau.
Steele, a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, earned a degree from University of Missouri law school. He is a partner in the Cape Girardeau law firm of Finch, Bradshaw, Strom and Steele. He is a member of the county, state and national bar associations, as well as a number of other state and national associations.
Cozean is a graduate of University of Kansas School of Medicine and practices ophthalmology in Cape Girardeau. He is a member of the Cape County Medical Society and a number of state and national medical associations.
Mehner is vice president of Advanced Business Systems of Cape Girardeau and chairman of the board of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the United Way Board and Civic Center Board and is a member of the Vision 2000 Community Relations Council.
AmeriFirst Bank operates at 2060 William, across from West Park Mall in Cape Girardeau. The bank also has two locations in Sikeston.

Donna Domian and Robert N. Etherton, representatives of Edward D. Jones & Co., will host a satellite seminar for small-business owners Thursday, featuring U.S. Sen. Christopher "Kit" Bond, member of a Senate panel on small business.
Bond will discuss a number of topics, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, individual and business tax proposals and the outlook for mandatory health coverage for employees.

St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau has been honored for 75 years of membership in the Catholic Health Association (CHA) of the United States.
St. Francis was recognized during the 77th annual CHA assembly held last month in Anaheim, Calif.
The CHA represents health care providers at more than 1,200 Catholic facilities and organizations. Member organizations constitute the largest single group of not-for-profit health care facilities in the U.S.

Terri Welker of World Travel Center recently attended the 1992 National FHA/HERO Convention.
Welker served as travel consultant and coordinator for the Missouri delegation to the convention, arranging Chicago sight-seeing tours.
Missourians from Cape Girardeau, Poplar Bluff, Springfield, Kansas City and St. Louis were among the more than 100 people at the convention.

Maxwell's Services Company, a heating and air conditioning firm located at 101 William in Cape Girardeau, has provided more than $400 in parts and labor to repair an air-conditioning unit for a Gibson Recovery Center facility at 43 S. Lorimier.

Associate Circuit Judge Benjamin S. Lewis was the winner of the Convention and Visitors Bureau's recent recipe contest. He received a $50 savings bond.
Lewis' "Wild Goose Parmesan" was judged the best of the 15 over-all winners. More than 50 entries were received. The 15 top recipes will be published in a book.

Rental Land Inc., 1922 Independence, has been appointed a registered service dealer of Tecumseh Products Co., Engine and Transmission Group Service Division.
Tecumseh, headquartered in Grafton, Wis., produces two- and four-cycle gasoline engines and power train components used by a number of manufacturers of power lawn and garden equipment, recreational vehicles and industrial equipment.
Rental Land will service all Tecumseh and Peerless power train products and carry a full line of service parts.
Carl Farrar, service manager at Rental Land, will supervise Tecumseh repairs.

CARBONDALE, Ill. Plans call for a 196,615-square-foot Wal-Mart Supercenter to be constructed on the northeast corner of East Main and Giant City Road in Carbondale.
Wal-Mart had earlier announced it was building a 121,000-square-foot store. The Carbondale City Council, which already had approved a development plan for the smaller store, will consider the larger store at its July 21 session.
The closest supercenter to Carbondale is in Cape Girardeau.
