Women in ag conference to be held in September

The ninth annual "Women in Agriculture" conference will be held Sept. 15 through 17 at the Victorian Inn in Cape Girardeau. The conference is being billed as for anyone "actively involved in your farm, have a career related to agriculture or have farming interest of any kind."

This year, the conference will feature such topics as value-added ag, women's health, how to detoxify a home, gardening and a variety of other topics. There will be a vendor show, a keynote speaker, a banquet, live entertainment, a tour of area cotton and rice farms and an opportunity to talk to local rice and cotton producers.

Registration is $50 and must be paid by Aug. 15. For more information, call Dorothy Hahs at 243-1467, extension 3.

Center to hold business counseling sessions

The Small Business Development Center of Southeast Missouri State University will be conducting counseling sessions for area small business persons and individuals planning business ventures.

The counselor, Gil Degenhardt, will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce. Call 335-3312 for an appointment.

On Thursday, Degenhardt will be at the Southeast Regional Planning Commission in Perryville, Mo. The one-hour counseling sessions are free. For an appointment in Perryville, call (573) 547-8457.
