Kontek Industries of New Madrid, Mo., announced last week that it has been selected to demonstrate several of its products -- vehicle barriers, mobile troop housing, blast-tested guardhouses -- at the invitation-only 5th Force Protection Equipment Demonstration at Quantico Marine Corps Base, Va., this week. The demonstration provides a venue to show state-of-the-art protection equipment to Department of Defense and other federal officials. In response to threats such as rocket-propelled grenades, improvised explosive devices and mortar artillery, Kontek refocused its efforts. Kontek now has products that are certified and field-tested to withstand the threats currently facing U.S. troops overseas.
