PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- The law office of Bradshaw, Steele, Cochrane & Berens LC opened a new location at 1304 Brenda Ave., Suite A in Perryville.

__NEW BOUTIQUE OPENS ON BROADWAY__

Merci, a children's clothing, baby items, home decor and gift boutique, opened May 8 in the restored Julius Vasterling Building, 637 Broadway in Cape Girardeau. Owner Cathy Pincksten has traveled the country to find unique inventory not available locally, and local artists have aided her in the decor and design of the store.

__CHAMBER HOLDS AT&T RIBBON CUTTING__

DEXTER, Mo. -- The Dexter Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting recently for AT&T World Wide Wireless, 1609 W. Business 60. The store opened Nov. 19 and offers wireless products and service, Direct TV, Internet and everything offered by AT&T. Shayn Mabury is the store manager.

__ANDREW JACKSON CUTS RIBBON__

The Andrew Jackson, a bridal and formal wear retailer at 102 S. High St. in Jackson, held a ribbon cutting May 16 with the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce. Athena Albright became owner of the business in December. Services have been expanded to include event planning, rentals and a ready-to-wear line for all occasions and ages.

__HORIZONS CENTER HOLDS RIBBON CUTTING__

Horizons Enrichment Center held a ribbon cutting May 23 at its new Learning Garden in Cape Girardeau. Horizons is a center for adults with developmental and mental disabilities and is sponsored by Southeast Missouri State University College of Health and Human Services. The garden will give program participants an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors in a safe and nurturing environment and to plant flowers and vegetables. It features a bridge over a dry creek bed and several planter boxes that can be accessed by wheelchairs along a winding path to a specially designed picnic pavilion.

__MOREHOUSE SCHOOL TO REOPEN AS CARE FACILITY__

MOREHOUSE, Mo. -- Two years after Morehouse Elementary closed, the former school building will reopen as a children's residential care facility with a 48-bed capacity, the Sikeston Standard Democrat reported. Proverb Academy, on Carroll Street in Morehouse, will provide residential treatment for boys and girls ages 6 to 17. The facility's 15 employees have already received training and background checks, said Russell Gadberry, assistant administrator for Proverb Academy. He expected the facility to open by the end of May. The goal, he said, is to provide a safe, structured setting where children can learn and practice positive behaviors. Dale Worley of Dexter, Mo., is the administrator.

__SERVICE MASTER INTRODUCES NEW NAME__

SIKESTON, Mo. -- ServiceMaster Clean has changed its name to ServiceMaster Restore. Tom Coba, president of ServiceMaster Franchise Brands, said the new name differentiates the business in the marketplace and better reflects the comprehensive disaster restoration work completed for residences and businesses. As before, the local franchise will continue to provide two services to consumers: ServiceMaster Restore, for disaster restoration services, and ServiceMaster Clean, for residential and commercial cleaning services. The new logo and look began to appear in March in various marketing and advertising efforts.

__BED AND BREAKFAST OPENS IN MALDEN__

MALDEN, Mo. -- The Malden Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Quiet Grace, a new bed-and-breakfast and special events venue at 209 S. Beckwith St. in Malden. Jo Robertson owns the business.

__SATELLITE MAFIA SYSTEMS HOLDS RIBBON CUTTING__

The Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting May 17 for Satellite Mafia Systems LLC, 4459 N. High St., near D-Mart in Jackson.

__RAY'S COMPLETES REMODEL__

KELSO, Mo. -- Ray's of Kelso has remodeled the outdoor dining courtyard at its 151 S. Messmer St. location in Kelso. The restaurant will host Saturday night parties featuring live music and themed buffets. The courtyard also has a big-screen TV, patio heaters, canopies and umbrellas for al fresco dining from May through October. Founded as a drive-in in 1964, Ray's of Kelso is the flagship for two other businesses, The Plaza by Ray's, which hosts special events for groups, and Ray's Catering.

__BUCHHEIT TRUCKING WINS SAFETY AWARDS__

Buchheit Trucking Service of Scott City won the Great West Safety Award from the Missouri Trucking Association at its Spring Safety conference. The company was recognized for "outstanding achievement in highway safety" in the one to five million miles driven division. Company President Ron Gjerstad, safety and recruiting manager Bruce Aden, operations manager Jeff Buchheit and maintenance manager Steve Moll accepted the award. Three Buchheit drivers were also recognized for driving for eight consecutive years without an accident or ticket: Don Ledbetter of Sikeston, Mo., Kevin Flick of Vienna, Ill., and Keith Schwent of Perryville, Mo.

__SALON OPENS UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP__

LEADINGTON, Mo. -- The Park Hills-Leadington Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting May 17 for a new salon, All About Me Salon and Spa, at 503 Woodlawn Drive in Leadington. Gina Gaston recently purchased the salon, which was formerly Essentials Salon and Spa. The salon offers hair care, facials, manicures, pedicures and massages and is a local supplier of Bare Minerals beauty products.

PARK HILLS, Mo. -- The Park Hills-Leadington Chamber of Commerce held a grand opening and ribbon cutting May 10 for Moyers Muffler & Auto LLC. The business, formerly S&S Muffler, was recently purchased by Greg and Sarah Moyers.

__GUN RANGE OPENS IN LEADINGTON__

LEADINGTON, Mo. -- The Park Hills-Leadington Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for a new indoor gun range May 15. The McDowell family built and opened Ozark Thunder Indoor Gun Range at 5157 Flat River Road in Leadington. They offer 12 indoor shooting lanes, ammunition and a variety of rifles and hand guns for purchase.

__BANK OF MISSOURI RECOGNIZED__

The Bank of Missouri was recognized at the Small Business Administration Lender's Appreciation luncheon May 6. Out of all community banks in the St. Louis region, The Bank of Missouri had the highest number of SBA loans closed during 2012 and was second in dollar value. The Bank of Missouri, based in Perryville, Mo., is a preferred Small Business Administration lender and has more than $1 billion in assets.

__OLD TOWN CAPE GETS NATIONAL ACCREDITATION__

Old Town Cape received its ninth national accreditation from the National Trust for Historic Preservation Main Street Center and the Missouri Main Street Connection as part of the National Main Street Conference held last month in New Orleans. Old Town Cape is one of seven Missouri programs to be recognized. "This accreditation is an indication to the community that the program is working according to proven principles of sustainable revitalization," said Marla Mills, executive director.

__GORMAN ACQUISITION COMPLETED__

Enterprise Bank & Trust, the banking subsidiary of Enterprise Financial Services Corp., completed the acquisition, announced in March, of the operating assets of Gorman & Gorman Home Loans, a division of F&M Bank and Trust Co. Mark Gorman, founder and president of Gorman & Gorman, joined Enterprise as president of Enterprise Home Loans, the bank's mortgage lending division. Approximately 30 mortgage producers, underwriters and operations staff in St. Louis, Cape Girardeau and the Springfield, Mo., area also joined Enterprise. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The transaction is not expected to materially affect the company's 2013 earnings. Enterprise Financial operates commercial banking and wealth management businesses in metropolitan St. Louis, Kansas City, Mo., and Phoenix.

__CARRYOUT RESTAURANT OPENS IN CAPE__

Fish and More opened at 402 Good Hope St. in Cape Girardeau, serving made-to-order fried fish and chicken Thursday through Sunday. The carryout restaurant has two outdoor tables for dining.

The Men's Room, a "full service barbershop and spa," will open soon at 705 William St. in Cape Girardeau.

__SOUTHEAST, LINCOLN PARTNER FOR AGRICULTURE__

Southeast Missouri State University and Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo., have partnered on agriculture initiatives in the areas of teaching, research and outreach. Dr. Mike Aide, chair of the Department of Agriculture at Southeast, said the two institutions have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on courses, research and professional outreach. Aide says the two institutions will partner on courses such as hydrology, small animals and beef production, offering courses in these areas to students at both universities using online or interactive television formats. Both Southeast and Lincoln will share courses in which it has the comparative advantage, he said, allowing students to enroll in courses at both universities. They will begin partnering on coursework during the spring 2014 semester, he said.
