LETTERS: POST OFFICE IS A PLEASANT SURPRISE

To the editor:

I would like to tell you a story.

For years and years I have avoided going to the post office in Cape Girardeau because the employees always had such sour faces and were very unfriendly. It always seemed to be a bother for them to help me when I needed help. Even when I made a phone call, usually asking for something as simple as a ZIP Code, it seemed to take too much effort for them to be friendly and helpful on the phone, but they did give me the information I needed.

So I have been taking all my business to Mail Boxes Etc., where the attitude of the employees is great. Small packages or big packages, they all went on their way through Mail Boxes Etc. When I needed stamps, I would order them by mail to avoid having to come in contact with the employees and their poor attitudes at the post office.

On July 13 I had a package that I had to return to a company, and I had to send it through the U.S. mail. I dreaded going to the post office, but I did. Wow! Was I ever glad I did. What a pleasant surprise. I couldn't believe how the post office has changed in its looks and its employees' attitudes. These ladies are wonderful. They were friendly, helpful and patient. They actually smiled and thanked me for using the post office. What a wonderful attitude change. From now on I will definitely use our local post office when I need packages delivered. I give them my sincere thanks.

It takes to little to smile at a person and give them a friendly hello and a thank you. A smile and a friendly attitude gives a person so much and takes nothing away from anyone. I hope the postal employees keep up the wonderful, positive attitude.

JAN JARRELL
