The Area Wide United Way is well on its way to its 1996 campaign goal of $525,000. The campaign recently passed the halfway mark. It is good to hear that donations are ahead slightly from last year at this point. That means the agency is on track to reach its target.

Yes, $525,000 is an ambitious goal. But those dollars are stretched far in the region. More than 20 local agencies receive funding from the United Way, and programs benefit the very young to the very old and everyone in between.

The community need for these dollars is great. The Area Wide United Way's is also in need of everyone's help to achieve this goal. Monetary gifts both large and small are appreciated. Donations can be made to the United Way by calling 334-9634.

Giving to the United Way is a good way to become a good neighbor.
