LETTERS: AUDIENCE NEEDS TO HEED MANNERS

To the editor:

This is in answer to the lady who complained in Speak Out because a security guard had spectators sit for the gospel concert held recently near Jackson.

We too were at that concert. We went an hour early in order to get a good, close seat. We were lucky enough to get on the third row from the stage. Immediately, when the performance started, four persons in the row in front of us stood to their feet and began to clap -- not just long enough to show respect to the performers, but for the entire song and the next.

I was ready to ask someone in charge to have it stopped when the security guard came and asked them to be seated. We paid admission just the same as they did. However, we would not have been able to see a thing with these people standing in front of us.

We definitely appreciate the guard for doing his duty. We don't believe he needs any additional prayer for that act. Possibly, those who don't have any more consideration for those behind them than these four might need a little extra prayer. The guard is to be commended for his response to the situation.
