LETTERS: LET'S PUT RESPONSIBILITY ON US

To the editor:

After the tragedy at Columbine High School, I feel there are a few things that need to be said: The anti-gun nuts have massed together, clapped their hands and shouted, We've got them now. But is that really the answer? In reality, no. How long have guns been a vital part of our country's existence? We have had gun availability for generations.

Restriction of gun ownership by the law-abiding and responsible American citizen is not the answer, regardless of what the Clinton clan advocates. Let's enforce the gun laws already in existence. Hasn't anyone heard of penalizing the criminal?

May I suggest the blame be placed somewhere beside the Second Amendment. Let's put it where it belongs: on our own shoulders. Start taking responsibility. Quit hiding behind your own selfishness.

Do the corny and out-of-date words "God, country, Mom and apple pie" mean anything?
