To the editor:

A mother-to-be in Bakersfield, Calif., recently made an awful mistake. She decided to have some genetic tests done to make sure her baby would be born healthy. The tests indicated her baby had Down syndrome. The mother-to-be went to the local family-planning abortion clinic where a staff member told her they would give her baby a shot in the heart to kill it. Luckily, the woman decided to think it over and left.

Once outside she met Terri Palmquist, a member of a local Voice for Life pro-life ministry. Palmquist spoke to the mother and prayed with her. She even found a woman who was willing to adopt the baby.

Afterward, the mother-to-be decided to have an ultrasound which indicated that her baby was quite healthy. In fact, the mother saw her baby waving at her as if to say, "Thanks, Mom."
