Bill Nye

Bill Nye, a comedic scientist (yes, you read that right) will bring his analytical charm to the Show Me Center on Tuesday as part of the University Speaker Series, a program that has brought the likes of Michael J. Fox, Kurt Warner and Lisa Ling.

Nye, according to the biography found on his website, is a scientist, engineer, comedian, author and inventor. He's know as "the Science Guy" and is absolutely beloved by those who follow him.

Nye is something of an educator at heart and uses humor to teach others about the importance of science.

According to a biography put out by Southeast Missouri State University, Nye was Cornell-educated and started his career as a flight engineer for Boeing, He got his start in show business when he began moonlighting in Seattle comedy clubs. He branched out as a writer and performer in the comedy show "Almost Live," where "Bill Nye the Science Guy" was born. Nye won seven Emmy Awards along the way, and the show went on to win 28 Emmys during its five-year run on syndicated television. Nye's accomplishments include hosting Science Channel's "The 100 Greatest Discoveries" and PBS's "The Eyes of Nye."

This could be a fun night at the Show Me Center. Nye's performance is set for 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.showmecenter.biz and the Show Me Center box office.
