The 1996 Central graduate also earned two All-American honors as a sophomore when he was fourth in the 500 freestyle and eighth in the 1,650 freestyle.

Younghouse was also second in the 400 freestyle at last year's U.S. Summer Nationals to earn a berth in the 1999 Pan Pacific Championships, which will be held in Sydney, Australia, in August.

Texas, with 356.5 points, placed behind national champion Auburn (467.5) and runnerup Stanford (414.5) in the team standings during last weekend's NCAA meet.
