NEW YORK -- Chase Utley's hitting streak ended at 35 games in the Philadelphia Phillies' 5-3 win against the New York Mets on Friday night.

Utley went 0-for-5, striking out twice. He hit a bouncer to the right of second base in the seventh inning but Jose Valentin backhanded it and threw him out in a close play at first.

The Phillies won their fourth straight and improved to 13-8 since the All-Star break.

Red Sox acquire Lopez

Javy Lopez was traded from the Baltimore Orioles to Boston on Friday, giving the Red Sox a replacement for injured catcher Jason Varitek.

The Orioles sent Lopez and $1.3 million to the Red Sox for a player to be named.

Varitek, the Red Sox captain, had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Thursday.
