Scott City remained unbeaten Friday night with a 70-62 boys' basketball road victory over Oran.
Junior Jeremy Schlosser led with 20 points for the Rams, who improved to 3-0. D.J. Walton added 13 points and Mark Dannenmueller and Tyler Ward each finished with 11.
Scott City clung to a 27-26 lead at halftime but opened the gap in the third quarter, outscoring the Eagles 18-12 for a 45-38 lead.
The Rams held on in the Scott-Mississippi Conference game with a 25-24 edge in the fourth quarter.
"We started out shaky but we settled in and started playing ball," Scott City coach Kerry Thompson said. "We're a young team, and this is a good win."
Ryne Wood scored 16 points to lead Oran (2-2). Tyler Cookson and Ryan Bouge each added 12 points.
Sikeston Tournament
Top-seeded Poplar Bluff won its second tournament title of the season Friday night, defeating third-seeded Blytheville 84-59 in the championship game of the Sikeston Invitational Tournament.
Second-seeded Charleston defeated fourth-seeded Sikeston in the third-place game 68-61.
Cape Girardeau Central canceled its fifth-place game with New Madrid due to bad weather. The teams plan to reschedule the game, probably after Christmas. It likely will be played at Sikeston.
Events called off
Several events were called off Friday because of bad weather, including Notre Dame's game at Fredericktown and Jackson's game at Dexter. Games involving Advance, Bell City, Delta and Scott County Central also were among events called off.
