Track & Field Roundup: Rams tangle with Cardinals in Woodland Open

The Cardinals track and field team hosted the Woodland Open on Tuesday, March 19, in Mable Hill, Mo. They won 14 events between the girls and boys.

Fresh off winning the Class 2 cross country championship in the fall, the Woodland boys continued to dominate the long-distance events. Reed Layton won the mile run while his younger brother, Calvin Layton, took the 800m race. Fellow Cardinal Drew Garner fended off two teammates to win the two-mile race.

Much of the relay races were between Woodland and Scott City, with the Rams winning 5-of-6 races including sweeping the girls' circuit.
