FARMINGTON, Mo. -- Central was plagued by early foul trouble and simply could not overcome a big size advantage for Hazelwood Central and fell in the Farmington Tournament finals 72-49.
Hazelwood Central (4-2), which sports five players 6-foot-4 or taller including University of Missouri signee Calen Grimes, outmanned a much smaller Tiger lineup. Central (2-1) actually pulled ahead 8-0 to start the game but after center Scott Chestnutt picked up his second foul early Hazelwood's big men went to work.
Despite missing Chestnutt and leading scorer Ryan Delph for parts of the first quarter with foul trouble, Central led after one period18-11. Delph's third foul early in the second quarter led to an 8-1 run by Hazelwood Central, which put the Tigers behind for the first time in the game.
Central was down by five points at halftime.
Eli Harris led the Tigers with 18 points. Delph managed only eight points and Chestnutt finished with five.
Hazelwood Central got 20 points from Aaron Jackson.
Jackson 56, Riverview Gardens 48
The Indians used a big second quarter to win the consolation bracket of the Farmington Tournament.
Jackson outscored Riverview Gardens 19-9 in the second quarter and held a big advantage at the free-throw line. The Indians had more free throws made (15) than Riverview attempted (13.)
Tyler McNeely led Jackson with 17 points, Jason Schafer had 15 and Jack Puisis had 12.

New Salem finishes second
New Salem Baptist lost a pair of games to Kansas City East and finished second at the Hillsboro Christian Outreach Tournament. Jon Davault scored 33 points in the championship game in a 60-48 loss. Davault had 87 points in four games played on Saturday. New Salem lost to Kansas City East earlier in the day 64-54.

Jackson 50, FT. Zumwalt South 18
Jackson held Ft. Zumwalt South to five points in the first half on its way to victory in the third-place game of the Farmington Tournament.
Ashley Bartels led the way with 15 points. Jackson (2-1) led 25-5 at halftime and 39-9 entering the fourth quarter.

Notre Dame won its second straight game to claim the Farmington Tournament consolation championship.
The Bulldogs (2-1) used a big second half to cruise. Laura Weissmueller led four double figure scorers with 18. Katie Palmer had 16, Sommer McCauley had 12 and Sierra Ellis had 11.

New Salem Baptist was eliminated in the Hillsboro Christian Outreach Tournament with a 47-21 loss to Life Christian. Sarah Green led New Salem with eight points and Holly Jordan had 10 rebounds. Green scored 20 points in a win earlier in the day.

Jackson places second
Jackson finished second out of 12 teams at the Parkway South Wrestling Tournament.
Brock Howard (140 pounds), Cody Rouse (145 pounds), Kramer Rampley (160 pounds) and Kamden Rampley (189 pounds) all finished first at 6-0.
The Indians finished with 341 points, only 20 points behind Fort Zumwalt West.
Jackson's JV team won the JV tournament finishing with 354 points.

Notre Dame places fifth
Notre Dame finished fifth out of 12 teams at the University City Relay Meet.
CBC won the meet which consists of mostly non-traditional three-person relays. Notre Dame's top finish was second in the 300 butterfly relay. John Fisher, Stephen Hine and John Stoverink finished in 3:10.37.

Central's boys JV team lost to Poplar Bluff 48-35 in the finals of the Perryville JV Tournament. The Tigers (3-3) were led by Tyrone Reece's 10 points.
Central's boys freshman team improved to 3-0 with a win over Kelly. Matt Hester led the Tigers with eight points.
Central's boys eighth grade basketball team beat Kelly at home 50-32. Garrett Stevens had 10 points.
