FREDERICKTOWN -- Notre Dame scored 10 runs in the seventh inning Tuesday to finally pull away from Fredericktown 22-9.

The Bulldogs pounded 19 hits, two for home runs, to improve their record to 7-4 overall. Notre Dame led only 12-9 before the seventh-inning eruption.

"It looked like a slow-pitch softball game," said Notre Dame assistant coach Jeff Graviett. "We'd score a couple runs then they'd come back and score a few."

Scott Reinagel went 5-for-5 with two doubles, two singles and a triples for four RBIs. Josh Eftink clubbed two hits with a home run and four RBIs. Bryan Drury added two hits and Ryan LeGrand ripped a two-run home run.

Tommy Wencewicz pitched the first five innings for the win, allowing seven of the Black Cats' eight hits. Brian Obermann pitched the last two innings.

Notre Dame plays in the four-team round-robin Potosi Tournament on Friday. The Bulldogs meet Jackson at 6 p.m. and Potosi, ranked No. 1 in Class 3A, at 8 p.m.

Perryville 15, Park Hills 4

PARK HILLS -- Leading 5-2 after five innings, Perryville (5-2) got two in the sixth and eight in the seventh to pull away from Park Hills Central on Wednesday.

Perryville's Joel Heuring went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Nick Adams was 2-for-5 with three RBIs and Shaun Duvall went 2-for-5 with a homer and four RBIs.

Ryan Mattingly got the win. In four innings, he allowed four hits and struck out six.

Woodland 10, Bell City 5

BELL CITY -- Woodland improved to 2-1 with its win over Bell City on Wednesday.

The Cardinals had 15 hits. Chris Jordan led the way with a homer, triple and single and Jered Roberts added three hits. Paul Long, Josh Lemons and Jason Banderman each got two hits.

Greg Lincoln got a complete-game win.

GOLF

Jackson 169, Ste. Genevieve 175

JACKSON -- At Kimbeland Country Club, Jackson improved to 7-5 overall with a six-stroke victory over Ste. Genevieve on Wednesday.

Gabe Estes won medalist honors with a 40. Chris Pike was close behind with a 41, Andy Kohl carded a 43 and Craig Hutson scored a 45.

Ste. Genevieve was led by Brad Fallert's 41.

Jackson gets back in action Monday in the Sikeston Tournament.

Cape Central 168, Dexter 168

DEXTER -- Cape Central's Dane McClaird earned medalist honors Tuesday, but the Tigers were only able to manage at tie against Dexter.

McClaird carded a 39 on the par-36 Dexter course. Other Central scores came from Danny Groesbeck 41, Bryan Welker 43 and Jeff Haycraft 45.

Dexter got twin-40's from Brett Hale and Shawn Guethle 40.

The tie puts Central's record at 6-3-1. The Tigers host Poplar Bluff today at Cape Country Club.

SOCCER

Notre Dame 5, Farmington 0

The Lady Bulldogs played relentless defense Tuesday in an easy shutout of Farmington at Shawnee Park.

Jaymie Frank scored two of Notre Dame's five goals, with teammates Jessica Lawrence, Jill Edwards and Jennifer Glueck adding the others. Edwards and Glueck both had two assists with Stephanie Meyer getting the other.

Channell Bueltermann faced one shot for the shutout as Notre Dame improved to 4-7-1.

Notre Dame's JV improved to 2-2-1 with a 7-1 victory. Michelle Hency and Jessica Daniel had two goals each.

Notre Dame plays host to Carbondale (Ill.) today.

SWIMMING

Clayton 86, Cape Central 84

ST. LOUIS -- Cape Central lost a close swim meet to Clayton on the road Tuesday.

Mary Beth Owen and Grace Freeman both won two individual events for the Lady Tigers. Owen won the 200-yard IM and the 100 butterfly. Freeman claimed the 50 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke.

Central returns to the pool Friday and Saturday for a 14-team meet at Parkway South.

Notre Dame 19, St. Vincent 2

An 11-run fourth inning propelled Notre Dame (3-4) past visiting St. Vincent on Wednesday.

Notre Dame got 12 hits. Randi Senciboy went 3-for-4 with two triples, a home run and seven RBIs. Erin Hamm was 3-for-3 and Suzanne Schwartz was 2-for-2.

Senciboy earned the win. In four innings, she allowed three hits, struck out nine and walked none.

TRACK & FIELD

Central boys win

POPLAR BLUFF -- Cape Central's girls lost their first dual meet in five years to Poplar Bluff, 70-64, on Wednesday. Central's boys won 77-69. See Scoreboard on Page 2B for details.

Kelly boys, girls win

BENTON -- Kelly's girls won the Scott County Conference meet with 189 points on Wednesday. The other teams were: Scott City (126), Chaffee (79), Portageville (74), East Prairie (32) and Oran (0).

Also, Kelly's boys won the SEMO South Conference meet with 163 points. The remaining teams were: Scott City (141), East Prairie (83), Chaffee (81), Portageville (55), Oran (21).
