DAWSON SPRINGS HANDS CAPAHAS THEIR FIRST DEFEAT
DAWSON'S SPRINGS, Ky. -- The Craftsman Union Capahas had nine hits but couldn't score in their first loss of the season Tuesday at Dawson Springs, Ky.
Tristen McDonald, Tom Bolen, Denver Stuckey and Zach Borowiak each had two hits for the Capahas (4-1).
Andy Sherridan threw five innings for the Capahas and gave up all three runs while striking out two.
Cape Girardeau Legion team falls to Sikeston
Sikeston scored six unearned runs in an 8-4 win over the Ford & Sons American Legion baseball team Tuesday.
Tyler Schlosser and Matt Wulfers each went 2-for-4 for Ford & Sons. Josh Ford had two RBIs after a base hit with the bases loaded.
Jeff Brosey took the loss, giving up all eight runs.

Notre Dame running back Julius Jones has been kicked off the team because of academic problems, the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday. Jones rushed for a team-high 1,375 yards over the last two years. Jones can appeal the dismissal to the school after one year.
Dartmouth's new athletic director resigned abruptly after questions were raised about his resume. Charles Harris stepped down the day before he was to have been officially introduced as the school's new athletic director. Dartmouth dean James Larimore said he received a call late Monday from one of Harris' previous employers, who said Harris had claimed on his resume to have a master's degree in journalism from the University of Michigan. In fact, he enrolled in the program but never completed it. Larimore said he then spoke with Harris, who quickly offered to resign.

The Chiefs agreed to a three-year contract with fullback Omar Easy, their fourth-round selection in the 2002 draft. Easy, from Penn State, was the second Chiefs draft choice to agree to terms with the club, joining second-round pick defensive tackle Eddie Freeman.

The Lennox Lewis-Mike Tyson heavyweight title fight Saturday night was the highest-grossing pay-per-view event in history. HBO said that its joint venture with Showtime had grossed $103 million on 1.8 million buys, $3 million more than the previous high, the second bout between Tyson and Evander Holyfield.
Soccer fans around the United States stayed up late to watch America's 1-1 tie against South Korea in the World Cup, setting another ratings record for the sport on ESPN2. The game, which started at 1:30 a.m. CT Monday, got a 1.62 cable rating and was seen in an average of 1.36 million households, Nielsen Media Research said. The previous high for ESPN2 was 1.26 million households for a first-round Women's World Cup game between the United States and North Korea on June 27, 1999.
