Southeast Missouri State gymnast Sandra Blake earned her second straight Midwest Independent Conference gymnast of the week award.

Blake, a junior from Tri-Cities, Wash., won her second straight floor exercise title with a career-best 9.850, and her first vault title of the season with a career-best 9.875. Her vault performance placed her second all-time at Southeast.

The Redhawks return to action today in Denton, Texas, when they take on Texas Women's University.

Track and field

Seven members of the Southeast track and field team will compete in the New Balance Collegiate Invitational today and Saturday in New York.

The meet is the largest indoor track meet in the country.

Southeast All-American senior Miles Smith, who is ranked sixth in the nation in the 400 meters, will compete.

Senior John Berry will compete in the long jump, while sophomore Brandon Colbert will compete in the shot put and weight throw.

Junior Chris Gill will compete in the 400, while freshman Ryan Criglar will run the 200.

The 4x400 relay team of Smith, Gill, senior Chris Poindexter and freshman Robert Delaria will also compete.
