Jackson swimmer Ryan Gibson is the Southeast Missourian Player of the Week.

Gibson completed his senior season by earning two all-state honors at the MSHSAA state meet on Nov. 13 in St. Peters, Mo. He was one of just two swimmers in the Southeast Missourian coverage area to win double honors.

Central junior Jordan Gramling, who was named Player of the Week last week, was the other.

Gibson finished sixth in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:43.17, which was an improvement on his preliminary time of 1:43.85.

Gibson completed the 100 butterfly in 52.40, which was good for a tie for seventh place with Central swimmer Caleb Coots. Gibson also finished seventh in the preliminaries with a time of 51.97.

"We had three on the podium today with all-state, and that's the first time in Jackson history," Jackson coach Carol Baugh said of the Indians' performance at the state meet. "In the four years we've had a team, that's the first time we've had three events that had all-state swimmers."
