Some members of the Southeast Missouri State track and field team got their final tune-up for the upcoming Ohio Valley Conference championships while others rested ahead of the conference meet, which begins Friday. Some members of the Southeast Missouri State track and field team got their final tune-up for the upcoming Ohio Valley Conference championships while others rested ahead of the conference meet, which begins Friday.

Sarah Hall won the women's shot put event at the Huskie Outdoor Classic hosted by Northern Illinois on Saturday with a distance of 14.79 meters. Teammate Kayla Gutierrez was second with a throw of 14.41 meters.

Hall also won the hammer throw with distance of 59.19 meters and was fifth in the discus (43.86 meters).

Gutierrez finished third in the discus (46.38 meters) and in the hammer throw (55.99 meters)

Taylor Coffelt placed second in the women's javelin throw with a throw of 37.27 meters.

On the men's side, Chris Navarro won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.60 seconds, while teammate Cole Ross was third in 18.91.

The Redhawks also took first and third in the pole vault with Christian Locke winning the event with a height of 16 feet, 1/4 inches. Duncan Ross was third with a height of 14-6. He also finished second in the javelin (154-11).

Shon Kyle was once again a standout for the throwers. He won the discus with a distance of 176-9 and was second in the shot put (55-9 1/4) and hammer throw (175-4).

Southeast student Kevin Farley competed unattached and won the shot put (57-9 1/2) and the hammer throw (201-2).

The Southeast sprinters and jumpers did not participate in the meet.

Both the men's and women's team will defend their OVC title beginning Friday in Clarksville, Tennessee.
