Zac Roman joined the Southeast Missouri State men's basketball coaching staff Tuesday by accepting a limited earnings assistant coach position.

Roman will take over many of the duties performed by Toby Lane, who recently accepted a coaching position at the Universiy of Miami.

Roman spent the last five season at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kan.

"I am very happy to be able to add Zac to our basketball staff," Southeast basketball coach Scott Edgar said in a release. "We had over 150 applicants for the position but Zac stood out because of his maturity, character and knowledge. He is the type of coach that can help us build a championship program at Southeast."

Roman worked as an assistant coach at Johnson County since 2003, then took over as interim head coach for the final three months of last season.
