Southeast Missouri State University's softball team lost its third game during a trip south as host Winthrop prevailed 4-1 Sunday in Rock Hill, S.C.

The contest was played after Winthrop's scheduled Ringor Tournament was canceled because of rain, which had also wiped out Saturday's action. The Otahkians dropped two tournament games Friday.

Southeast (3-9) had six hits, led by Kemi Rampi with two. Brooke Nett drove in the Otahkians' only run.

Jessica Hunter pitched three scoreless innings, allowing three hits. Kelly Birk took the loss, allowing three runs (one earned) and two hits in one inning.

The Otahkians will remain in South Carolina today to play a doubleheader with Marshall.

Gymnasts hit the road

Southeast's gymnastics team returns to action today with a 6 p.m. meet against Illinois State in Normal, Ill.

The Otahkians (5-10) are coming off a last-place showing in Friday's tough Kentucky Triangular in Lexington, Ky., finishing behind winner Denver and Kentucky.

Southeast lost to Illinois State 192.850-192.575 in Cape Girardeau earlier this season. The Redbirds have an average team score of 193.305 while the Otahkians average 192.205.

Following today's meet, the Otahkians will face Winona State at 7 p.m. at Houck Field House.

Tennis heads south

Southeast's women's tennis team will have four matches in four days beginning Tuesday as they compete in the Hilton Head (S.C.) Tournament.

The Otahkians (1-2) play Wichita State Tuesday, Trinity Wednesday, Dayton Thursday and Lipscomb Friday.
