CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — The Sikeston track teams compete at the MSHSAA Class 4, District 1 Track and Field Meet at Notre Dame Regional High School on Saturday, May 13.
The Lady Bulldogs finished fourth with a team score of 91.25 and had six athletes advance to the Class 4 Sectional Meet at Hillsboro High School on May 20, while the Bulldogs were 10th with 21 points.
“My girls showed up to compete,” said Sikeston coach Betsy Cowlick. “We have six girls that made it out of districts in six different events. I’m very pleased with what they put out there and am very excited to see what they can do this weekend.”
Kirsten Fairhurst finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.10 seconds. She was also second in the long jump with a leap of 5.43 meters. Reece Steward finished third in the long jump after clearing 5.16 and placed fourth in the 100 with a time of 13.27.
Fairhurst and Steward also finished second in the 400 relay with a time of 50.28 alongside teammates Lanaiyah Shabazz and Don Quaria Metty.
Brionna Williams was second in the high jump after clearing 1.57 and JaNaye Moore was fourth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 50.13.
Hillsboro won the boys’ division with 184 points, while Festus was victorious in the girls’ division with a team score of 139.25.
