DELTA -- A huge first half helped carry Scott City past visiting Delta 82-68 in boys basketball action Thursday night.

The Rams came out on fire in the opening quarter as they raced to a 27-10 lead. It was 53-31 at halftime and Delta never got closer than nine points in the second half.

"We really played well in the first half," said Scott City coach Derek Urhahn, whose team raised its record to 8-6 and dropped Delta to 5-7. "We just shot the ball so well."

Jason Ressel hit three 3-point shots in the first quarter and scored 13 points. He finished the game with 17.

Brent Anderson added 10 opening-period points and wound up with a game-high 28. Greg Klund and Grady Wooten added 17 and 13 points, respectively.

"Jason Ressel really helped us get off to a good start with his shooting in the first quarter," Urhahn said.

Delta got 21 points from Neil Hester, 13 from Ron Kielhafner and 12 from Justin Dunning.
