Scott City High School announced the hiring of Donelson Christian Academy defensive coordinator Brian Beaubien as the new head coach for the football program on Thursday, Feb. 22.

Before spending seven years in the DCA coaching staff in Nashville, Tenn., Beaubien was also the head coach at Kenwood High School in Clarksville, Tenn. While he’s spent much of his coaching career in Tennessee, Beaubien has ties to Southeast Missouri. His wife, Megan Beaubien, was born in Sikeston, Mo.

“While I was not necessarily expecting to move from DCA, this opportunity was something my family and I had to consider, especially with our family ties to Southeast Missouri,” Beaubien said in a statement. “We have close family and friends in the Cape area and look forward to being a part of the tight-knit community here in Scott City.”

Beaubien experienced a lot of highs and lows during his assistant coaching tenure at DCA. He got treated for stage four melanoma skin cancer in his first year on the job while coaching the Wildcats defense to a Division II-A BlueCross Bowl appearance (Tennessee’s state championship game) in 2017. DCA went 0-10 in 2018 but Beaubien played a role in the Wildcats’ three-year climb to a TSSAA Division II-A state championship in 2021.

Beaubien’s hiring at Scott City comes two weeks after DCA hired a new head coach to take over for Paul Wade, who left in December of last year to take a job at Brentwood Academy.

Beaubien replaces Jim May, who was recently hired to be the head coach at Sikeston High School. May coached the Rams for 15 years, racking up a record of 84-76, including 52-18 since 2018 with a district championship in 2019.

The Rams made it as far as the Class 2 District 1 title game in 2023. Departing seniors Mark Panagos signed to play college football at Truman State (DII) and Tyson Underwood signed to be a preferred walk-on at Southeast Missouri State.
