The Rams posted a pair of victories Tuesday to claim the Class 2 District 2 volleyball championship.

Scott City (33-1-3) cruised past Puxico in two games 25-17, 25-16 for the title.

Brooke Simpson had 11 kills and 10 digs, while Jordan McFall had 10 digs for the Rams.

The Rams downed Woodland in the semifinals, 25-19, 25-18.

Katie Diebold led the way with nine digs and 10 assists. Stephanie Essner added 13 digs, while Simpson spiked 11 kills.

Essner, Simpson and Anna Laitinen earned all-conference honors.

Class 4 District 1

Central pulled off a three-game upset of No. 2 seed Jackson to reach the district title match.

But the Tigers couldn't pull off another shocker, falling to top-seeded Farmington in two games.

The Tigers beat the Indians 25-14, 20-25, 25-20.

Wendi Zickfield led Central with 11 kills and 11 digs, while Rita Walter had seven kills and six digs. Angela Morton put up 11 assists, while Taylor Kern recorded 15 digs.

Taylor Glueck led the Indians with six kills, four aces and 10 digs, while Rachel Meyr had three kills, 16 assists and 10 digs.

The Indians finished the season 17-15.

Central fell to Farmington 25-12, 25-15.

Zickfield led the way with eight kills and 14 digs, while Walter finished with three kills and four digs.

Central finished at 13-17-2.

Class 3 District 2

Perryville, the No. 3 seed, advanced to the semifinals with a 25-11, 25-13 win over Festus in De Soto.

The victory set a new school record in wins for the Pirates (21-11).

Ava Johnson served four aces, and Makenzie Schirmer recorded five kills.

Perryville faces Ste. Genevieve, the No. 2 seed, in the semifinals at 6:30 p.m., and if it wins, would play at 7:30 p.m. for the district title.

Class 2 District 4

St. Vincent opened district play with a 25-18, 25-17 victory over Kingston.

Amanda Wengert led the Indians with four kills, while Kelly Steinbecker and Sarah DeWilde each had three.

Mackenzie Buehler had 11 digs, while Maria Lundy added eight and Courtney Besand six.

Heather Richardet put up 10 assists in the win.

The Indians face St. Pius in today's semifinal at 6:30 p.m. at West County. If St. Vincent wins, it would play for the title at 8 p.m.

BOYS SOCCER Notre Dame 1, Poplar Bluff 0

The Bulldogs needed overtime to dispatch the host Mules.

Joda Holloway took a pass from John Unterreiner and found the back of the net for the game's lone goal.

"We had trouble finishing," Notre Dame coach Brad Wittenborn said. "We had a lot of shots. It was just one of those nights where we kept missing the goal."

Ryan Bass didn't make a save, but earned the shutout as Notre Dame improved to 17-4.

BOYS SWIMMING Lafayette 277, Jackson 180, Central 166

Jackson finished second and host Central placed third in a three-team meet.

The Tigers' 200 freestyle relay squad finished less than 2 seconds off the state cut in winning (1 minute, 37.57 seconds). Relay team members were Jordan Gramling, Sam Gramling, Trey Simpson and Caleb Coots.

Tuesday's meet was the final one hosted this season by Central, which will participate in the Springfield Invitational on Saturday. Jackson will host the SEMO Conference meet Nov. 6 at Southeast Missouri State University.
