The Southeast Missouri State volleyball team snapped its four-match losing streak Friday by notching a pair of victories at the Memphis Invitational.

Southeast (3-6) beat Arkansas-Little Rock in five games, then knocked off host Memphis 30-16, 33-31, 30-19.

No game scores or individual statistics were available from the Arkansas-Little Rock match.

Against Memphis, senior Jessica Koeper led the way with 16 kills. Senior Jamie Baumstark had 34 assists and eight kills, while freshman Molly Davis added 12 digs.

The Redhawks play two more tournament matches today, against Louisiana Tech at 11:30 a.m. and Lipscomb at 4:30 p.m.

Soccer falls at DePaul

The Southeast women's soccer team staged a comeback but came up short in a 3-2 loss to DePaul in Chicago.

Southeast, which trailed 3-0 midway through the second half, fell to 1-2 with its second straight defeat. The Blue Demons improved to 2-2-1.

DePaul led 2-0 at halftime and scored again 15 minutes into the second half.

Southeast junior Alaina Lacopo scored off an assist from freshman Courtney Alexander with about 25 minutes remaining in the contest.

The Redhawks made it 3-2 with a little more than 10 minutes left when junior Margie Schaeffler scored off an assist from sophomore Megan McGrath.

Southeast held an 18-17 advantage in shots, including 13-8 in the second half. Redhawks' junior keeper Lindsay Pickering was credited with six saves while DePaul's Cara LaRocca made 10 saves, nine in the final period.

The Redhawks host Troy at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Runner nabs OVC honor

Southeast sophomore Juli Koenegstein has been named the Ohio Valley Conference female athlete of the week for cross country.

Koenegstein finished fifth last weekend at the Southern Indiana Alumni Open during Southeast's first meet of the season.
