The Cape Girardeau Ford & Sons Post 63 American Legion baseball team remained undefeated Wednesday night thanks to a tight win and a no-hitter.

Cape swept a home doubleheader from perennial American Legion power Paducah, Ky., 4-3 and 10-0 in five innings.

Post 63 is 8-0 and has allowed just eight runs in those eight games.

Jayden Pobst, an Oran High School graduate who recently completed his freshman season at John A. Logan (Ill.) College, fired a no-hitter in the nightcap.

Pobst (2-0) struck out 10, walked three and hit two batters.

Skylar Cobb went 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs to pace Cape's eight-hit attack. Ryan Grigaitis went 2 for 2 with a triple and three RBIs.

In the opener, Cape scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning with two outs. Tyler Glidewell doubled and Dustin Crowden delivered an RBI pinch-hit single.

Glidewell notched the win in relief. He worked the final 1 2/3 innings, allowing one hit and striking out three.

Logan Morris went the first 5 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs and three hits. He struck out five and walked three.

Post 63 had seven hits, led by Jake Pewitt with two hits and two RBIs.

Cape visits Sikeston today for a 6 p.m. doubleheader.
