The SEMO Men’s and Women’s track and field teams competed in the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships in Birmingham, AL. The Women’s team scored 183.50 points and captured their eighth OVC championship and first since 2013 while the Men’s team scored 128 points and finished in third place.
Sophomore Taylor Fox took home the gold in the mile and the 800-meter along with the Female Athlete of the Championship and Female Track Athlete of the Year. Junior Luke Hatfield-Jackson took gold in the high jump and was named Field Athlete of the Year, Tanner Koontz won Male Freshman of the Year, and Head Coach Eric Crumpecker was named OVC Women’s Coach of the Year.
Isaac Readnour finished third in the heptathlon, Madalyn Gray placed third in the mile and the 800-meter, Marshall Swadley and Dylan Clark finished first and third, respectively, in shotput, Laila Hardin placed second in the 400-meter, Kaitleyn McGinnitey finished second in the pentathlon, Terrico Garrett placed second in the 800-meter, Breanna Miles finished second in the 200-meter, Clara Billing placed first in pole vault, Katie Wegmann finished first in the 3000-meter, Megan Deimeke placed third in shotput, Serena Williams finished third in triple jump, the men’s 4x400 team placed second and the women's 4x400 team finished third.
