Mark Ostendorf picked up both wins over Poplar Bluff in a doubleheader sweep for the Cape SEMO Bank Junior Legion baseball team Tuesday.
Ostendorf went the distance in an 11-1 five-inning victory in the first game. Then he pitched two innings of relief in a 9-8 nightcap win.
The win was Cape's fourth in a row, improving SEMO Bank to 11-19 overall. Cape finished with the third seed in its district with an 8-8 mark.
Cape collected eight hits in the opening win. Mark Fisher, Tommy Wencewicz and Scott Reinagel all had two hits. Rick Davis was 1-for-2 with four RBIs.
In the late game, SEMO Bank pounded 11 hits for a comeback win. Mike Sullivan went 3-for-4 to lead Cape. Fisher, Davis and D.A. Slinkard all had two hits.
Four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning brought Cape back from an 8-5 deficit.
Monday night, SEMO Bank swept Jackson in a late-ending doubleheader 6-3, 12-3.
