JUPITER, Fla. -- Brian Bock hit a two-run single in the ninth inning Thursday, lifting the Baltimore Orioles over the St. Louis Cardinals 4-2.

Bock's one-out hit scored pinch-runner Esix Snead and Val Majewski.

Orioles pitchers did not allow a hit after the second inning. Four relievers combined for six scoreless innings and struck out six.

Baltimore starter Eric DuBose gave up two runs and four hits in three innings.

Eddy Rodriguez struck out two of four consecutive pinch-hitters in the ninth inning to pick up the save.

"We had one of our worst hitting days of the spring," Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said. "We had a lot of guys hitting weak groundball outs. They pitched well, but we weren't very good."

St. Louis starter Brad Thompson gave up two runs and four hits in two innings.
