Tight games were the norm for the final day of the University High Christmas Tournament with the consolation championship and fifth-place game setting the tone for the games to follow.

Scott Central and Advance kicked off the day with a thriller as the Braves rallied late for an 81-77 victory.

Oran picked up on the theme with a 60-56 comeback win over Notre Dame.

Scott Central 81, Advance 77

Both teams received a great individual performance with John Fort make seven 3-point baskets en route to a 35-point game. Garrett Broshuis was just as effective for Advance, scoring 21 second-half points and finishing with a team-high 33. Both players were later named to the 10-team all-tournament team.

Advance, seeded ninth, took a 37-33 lead into halftime and led 58-53 at the start of the fourth quarter. But Fort poured in 13 of his points as the seventh-seeded Braves exploded for 28 in the period.

Oran's Daniel Wheeler scored 13 of his game-high 18 points in the third quarter as the Eagles cut the deficit to 49-46.

The Eagles went on to outscore the Bulldogs 14-7 in the fourth quarter for the win.
