A game at defending national runner-up Oklahoma highlights the schedule that awaits Southeast Missouri State University first-year women's basketball coach B.J. Smith.
The Otahkians and Sooners will square off on Dec. 28 in Norman, Okla.
Also spicing the non-conference road schedule for the Otahkians is a game at perennial power Southwest Missouri State and two tournaments, at Wisconsin-Green Bay and Saint Louis.
Outside the Ohio Valley Conference, Southeast will also visit Samford and IUPU-Fort Wayne while hosting Henderson State, Lipscomb and Oakland City.
Southeast will have 11 regular-season home games, along with two exhibition contests at the Show Me Center: Nov. 8 against St. Louis Goldstar and No. 15 against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
The regular season opens Nov. 22 when Henderson State from Arkansas comes to Cape Girardeau. The initial road contest is Nov. 26 against Southwest Missouri State in Springfield.
"The schedule is tough in two ways in that we are playing tough teams and we have a really tough road portion," Smith said. "However, it could end up good for us because we have to play the tough teams to find out what kind of squad we are and have to beat the tough teams to be recognized like we want to be."
