PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Forward Jonathan Ressel scored a season-high 28 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as Notre Dame fought off a hot-shooting Perryville squad 70-60 Tuesday night in high school basketball action.
"He only hit one three, but he went to the boards well," said Notre Dame coach Darrin Scott of the 6-foot-5 Ressel. "He scored well from 14 to 15 feet."
Said Perryville coach Jeff Steffens, "He took the ball inside and scored a lot from the paint. We couldn't find an answer for him."
Mark Rubel added 15 points for Notre Dame (17-6), while Doug Schaefer and Travis Siebert both added 10.
Perryville (15-8), which made a school-record 11 3-pointers, got 17 points and five threes from Tyler Abernathy. Thomas Barber scored 11 points, while Andrew Meyr posted 10. The Pirates made six of their seven three-point attempts in the third quarter.
"Basically, we played with them but we ran out of gas and got impatient at the end," Steffens said. "We were down eight with a couple minutes left and took some bad shots."

Scott City 66
SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- A talented Kennett squad proved to be too much for Scott City as the Rams had their nine-game winning streak snapped.
Tyree Goolsby pumped in 24 points for the Indians while Larry Green had 16.
Scott City (17-6), losing for the first time since Jan. 12, got 20 points from Nick Steimle and 12 from both Ben Sample and Michael O'Brien.
"Our kids played hard, but Kennett is very athletic and physical," said Scott City coach Derek McCord.
The Rams led 22-18 after one quarter but fell behind 43-35 by halftime.
Kennett had a huge edge from the free-throw line, hitting 15 of 29 compared to three of nine for Scott City.
Advance 59Oran 52
ORAN, Mo. -- In an outcome that will throw a monkey wrench into the district seedings, Advance came out on top in a big Class 1A matchup.
Advance led by two points with 3:19 left then Oran turned the ball over on five straight possessions and the Hornets went on a 6-0 run over the next two minutes.
Andrew Jenkins led Advance with 22 points, followed by Adam Rainey with 10.
Adam Friga scored a game-high 25 points for the Eagles, followed by Ryne Wood with 13. Oran had only five players score.
Kelly 53East Prairie 52
BENTON, Mo. -- Kelly jumped out to an early eight-point lead, but East Prairie forced a slow pace and the Hawks (12-11) barely hung on for a victory.
The Hawks, who shot poorly, had only two players in double figures Jon Heuring and Josh Glastetter each had 12.
"Easy shots just wouldn't go in," Kelly coach Nick Lanpher said. "They shot the ball real well. They were up four points in the fourth quarter and we went to a different press and were able to force some turnovers."
Ryan Poyner led East Prairie with 22 points, followed by Chris Wheatley with 12.
Kelly led 22-21 at halftime, but trailed 37-34 going into the fourth quarter.
Delta 69Chaffee 47
DELTA, Mo. -- Troy Nussbaum scored 27 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as the Bobcats disposed of the Red Devils.
"Our guards did a good job of feeding him the ball," said Delta coach Jim Gloth.
One of those guards was Lance Kinder who scored 13 points and dished out nine assists.
Delta (8-12), which also got 18 points from Joey Key, led 37-21 at halftime and 49-32 going into the fourth quarter.
Chase Eskew led Chaffee with 12 points, followed by Andrew Horrell with 11 and Perry Rice with 11.
St. Vincent 68Oak Ridge 60
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- St. Vincent went on a fourth-quarter scoring binge to knock off Oak Ridge.
Ignited by Tyler Wengert, the Indians (15-6) outscored the Blue Jays 25-15 in the fourth quarter. Wengert scored 15 of his 22 points, including three 3-pointers, in the final eight minutes.
Mark Gotto and Ryan Brown scored 12 points apiece for St. Vincent, while Adam Bockman added 11.
Beau Morrison led Oak Ridge with 14 points, followed by Zach Ruesler and Adam Hahs with 10 points.
Poplar Bluff 69Scott Co. Central 43
MORELY, Mo. -- Scott County Central got 15 points from Todd Blissett and Chris Johnson in a losing effort to fall to 9-11.
Brent Little and Travis Tinsley each scored 12 to lead Poplar Bluff.
The Mules, who led 38-23 at halftime, put the game away in the third, outscoring the Braves 21-5.
Bismarck 56Meadow Heights 51
PATTON, Mo. -- Bismarck outscored Meadow Heights 28-23 in the first half and the two teams played even after that.
Joe Jordan led the Panthers (2-16) with 15 points, followed by Chris Burr and Josh Mayfield with 11.
Mark Grisham led Bismarck with 14 points, followed by Ray Goodman with 13 and Jack Grounds with 12.
Leopold 76Zalma 30
ZALMA, Mo. Three Leopold players finished with 18 points as the Wildcats thumped winless Zalma.
Paul Hutchings, Daniel Schaab and Ashton James each finished with 18 points to lead Leopold (9-11).
Chad Wiseman led Zalma (0-16) with 10 points.
Leopold opened a 21-4 lead in the first quarter and led 40-20 at halftime.
Eagle Ridge 51New Salem 47
Eagle Ridge Christian School completed a perfect conference season, clinching its first Ozark Christian title.
Toby Shreve scored 17 points, Andrew Mellies had 16 and Mike Probst had 15 as Eagle Ridge improved to 8-10 overall. Eagle Ridge, a member of the Ozark Christian Conference for five years, improved to 6-0 in league play.
New Salem, which was led by Jason Conway's 27 points, held a 36-32 lead entering the fourth quarter, but Eagle Ridge held a 19-11 scoring advantage over the final eight minutes.

Eagle Ridge 40New Salem 26
Eagle Ridge Christian School concluded Ozark Christian conference play with a perfect 6-0 record.
The win gave Eagle Ridge (12-3) its first conference title since joining the league five years ago.
Amber Karnes led Eagle Ridge with 14 points and Rachel Carbaugh added 10.
Leah Poole scored a game-high 18 points for New Salem.
Eagle Ridge took a 13-1 lead in the first quarter and was never threatened.
