BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Top-seed Notre Dame and No. 2 seed Kelly reached the championship game of the Class 2A, District 2 girls tournament Wednesday night.
The teams arrived in different fashion as Notre Dame won in a 81-32 rout over No. 4 Scott City, while Kelly overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to edge No. 3 Charleston 53-50.
Notre Dame (24-2) will be shooting for its sixth straight district title when it meets Kelly (23-4) for the championship 6 p.m. Friday.
The Lady Bulldogs received a game-high 18 points from Deana McCormick in winning their 13th straight game. Lisa Millham and Ashley Millham both added 14 points and Sommer McCauley scored 11.
Loren Groves scored all 18 of her points in the first half for Scott City.
Kelly not only overcame a 26-16 deficit, but a 29-point performance by Missy Whitney.
The Lady Hawks cut the lead to 37-36 by the end of the third quarter and outscored Charleston (20-4) by four points in the fourth quarter.
Kelly Essner led Kelly with 17 points and Dana Essner scored 14.
