Abe Dirnberger stole home in the fifth inning to help spark a nine-run inning and lead Notre Dame's baseball team to a 12-2 home rout of Scott City on Tuesday.

Dirnberger swiped home with one out in the fifth to push Notre Dame's lead to 4-2, then the floodgates opened. Scott City starter Ryan Modglin walked five batters in the fifth.

Shane Menz led Notre Dame with three hits, including a two-run double to put the Bulldogs ahead in the third. Jordan Buchheit added two hits for the Bulldogs (10-4).

Kirk Boeller struck out eight to get around five walks in a complete-game victory. Notre Dame improved to 4-3 in the SEMO Conference.

Chaffee's Steven Dooley pitched a seven-inning one-hitter and the Red Devils won at home.

Nick Niemczyk, the first batter of the game, had the only hit for Bell City.

Dooley collected 12 strikeouts in his third win, and Niemczyk struck out nine batters in a losing effort.

Chris Hanback had two hits for Chaffee (5-7).

Rebecca Richbourg chipped in an assist for Jackson.

Kylie Werner recorded the shutout.

Meghan Orr scored on a penalty kick midway through the second half, and Central won on the road.

Orr assisted on the Tigers' first goal of the game by Christina Sexton. Sexton set up the second goal when she was fouled in the box to draw the penalty kick.

Jackie Twidwell made nine saves in goal for the Tigers (8-3).

Courtney Besand scored twice, as St. Vincent won on the road.

Brooke Brown added a goal and an assist for the Squaws (6-8-2), and Lacey Siegmund and Jessica Welker each had an assist.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD Dexter Open

Matt Pfau was part of four first-place finishes to lead Notre Dame to a win at the four-team meet.

Pfau won the 1,600- and 800-meter runs. He also was part of the winning 3,200 and 1,600 relay teams. John Unterreiner, Jason Delgado and Neil Kanneberg were on the 3,200 team, and Mark Zimmer, Delgado and Blake Kirkpatrick rounded out the 1,600 squad.

Brandon Holzum and Austin Hunter each fired a 41 for the Bulldogs. Brett Slaten finished at 43, and Austin Gelscheimer shot a 44.

Sikeston's Dakota Trevino was medalist with a 3-over-par 38.

Ricky Dunn carded a 2-over-par 38 to earn medalist and lead Perryville to a road win at the Joachim Golf Club in Herculaneum.

Chris Streiler, Mike Fritsche and Bob Unger each shot 45 for the Pirates. John Zahner scored a 46, and Corey Lorenz finished with a 52.

SOFTBALL Leopold 11, Advance 1, 5 innings

Freshman Whitney Vandeven struck out 10 batters and allowed just three hits in five innings to lead Leopold to a home win.

Erin Woodfin had three hits for the Wildcats (5-2), while Vandeven, Kelly Eeftink and Seirra Seiler chipped in two apiece.

Libby Burger pitched the first four innings to pick up the win for the Rams (10-3). Chelsi Bradley led the offense with four hits and three RBIs. Emily Essner added three hits and Becky Holder had two.

For Oak Ridge, Amanda King and Kia Thomas had four hits apiece. Lori Brickhaus, Mandy Tucker, Daniela dos Santos and Jessica Seyer each added two hits.

Hannah Sedgwick earned her third win on the mound for Oak Ridge (3-6).
