Amanda Nichols shut out Chaffee on two hits Friday to lead Central past the Red Devils 1-0 in high school softball action.
Nichols struck out 13 and walked two over seven innings.
The Tigers (2-1) scored the only run of the game in the first inning. Courtney Schuessler singled, stole second base and scored on Sirena Watkins' basehit.
Watkins finished with two of Central's five hits against Chaffee pitcher Sarah Benton.
Benton allowed no walks and struck out two for the Red Devils (1-3).

The Bulldogs belted out 18 hits in a five-inning win at Perryville.
Kristain Burger had three hits -- including two triples -- and Cortney Ostendorf also had three hits, with one triple. Paris Burger, Erika Reinagel, Miranda Schlosser, Heather Menz and Whitney Eftink each had two hits.
Schlosser was the winning pitcher, hurling a shutout on two hits. She struck out 10.
