The Saxony Lutheran Crusaders defeated the Scott City Rams 7-3 on Friday at Scott City High School.

The offense of Saxony was led by sophomore Brayden Moore who went 2-2 with a walk and four RBIs, junior Mason Landewee got the win on the mound and finished with two strikeouts and four walks.

The Ram offense was led by junior Luke Umfleet who went 1-2 with a walk and two RBIs, junior Blake Wilburn took the loss and finished with seven strikeouts and three walks.

Scott City struck first with two runs in the bottom of the third when Umfleet’s RBI single brought in junior Mark Panagos and senior Colin Blaylock scored off senior Holden Miller’s fielders choice. Saxony tied and took the lead in the top of the fourth with a Moore single bringing in seniors Aaron Eubanks and Carson Birk, senior Drew Hahs was next to bat and launched a two-run home run to give the Crusaders a 4-2 lead.

The Rams got their final run in the bottom of the fourth with an Umfleet sac fly brought in senior Christopher Venable. Saxony reached the winning score in the top of the fifth with a Eubanks sac fly that scored junior Reid Bengston and another Moore single scored senior Jace Boland and Birk.

Saxony is next at home against Woodland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday while Scott City is at Charleston at 4:30 on Tuesday.

__Hillsboro 8, Perryville 7__

The Hillsboro Hawks defeated the Perryville Pirates 8-7 on Friday at Hillsboro High School.

The offense of the Pirates was led by senior Dane Lauck who went 2-4 with two RBIs, L Hoehn did most of the work on the mound and finished with three strikeouts and seven walks.

Perryville got two runs in the top of the fourth when the Hawks pitcher walked in sophomore Troy O’Keefe for a run and hit junior Caleb Triller which forced in A Green. The Pirates got four more in the top of the sixth when a freshman Waylon Huber single brought in Green and sophomore Ty Peeler and a Lauck double brought in sophomore Carter Blechle and Huber. The final run scored was off a Triller double that brought in Blechle.

Perryville will play Hillsboro again at home at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
