A rainy Monday night in Southeast Missouri saw many games see postponements and cancellations, but we still had three games across the area come to a finish.

Most notably, two state-ranked local powers butted heads as Chaffee (6-0) put away Kelly (1-3) with a huge fourth inning to stay undefeated on the year.

The Red Devils pushed five across in that fourth, and the inning prior got a solo homer from senior standout Levi McKinnie.

Peyton Vaughn put together a strong performance, getting 10 outs for the Devils while only allowing four baserunners, holding Kelly largely off the board.

Cape Central baseball (1-7) put together one of its best performances of the year despite taking a loss against Kennett, keeping the visitors on their toes.

The Tigers got five runs, all scored in the middle innings, but again couldn't overcome a tough start defensively.

On the bright side, you've got to give freshman arm Zach Dowdy his props as he put together an impressive three frames against one of the top teams in the SEMO Conference.

Dowdy allowed just one hit and one walk, recording nine big outs for the Tigers as their rally back fell short.

Meadow Heights baseball (2-3) suffered a quick start for Twin Rivers as it fell deeper and deeper into a big hole on the road.

The Panthers put together a solid day offensively against undefeated Twin Rivers, but an early four-run setback ended up being the difference in the end.

Five Royals finished in multi-hit territory, including a three-knock night for Jake Hester, helping Twin Rivers stay perfect on the year.

Here's your box score wrapped for the short local Monday slate.
