BENTON, Mo. — Kelly suffered a home setback at the hands of Saxony Lutheran on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

The Crusaders (9-8) were able to outlast and hang on for a 57-47 win against the Hawks (9-10).

“We’re still trying to piece together a whole game,” said Kelly coach Jeremy Brinkmeyer. “We play great in spurts, and stagnant in other parts of the game. Credit to Saxony they’re a good team and put us in that spot in the second and third quarters. But we’re too often letting our offense dictate our defensive effort. And on the offensive end, we just have to get more aggressive inside on offense, and I know we will.”

Luke Eggemeyer and John Hartman scored 22 and 19, respectively to lead Saxony Lutheran, while Ross Peters scored a team-high 13 for Kelly.

Kelly will compete in the Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament, beginning on Saturday, Jan. 28.
