Fourth-seeded Kelly opened its season with an 80-62 victory against No. 5 Scott County Central on Tuesday night in the first round of the Oran Invitational Tournament.
Brothers Kent and Kendal Deason teamed up for more than half of the Hawks' points. Kent Deason had 24 points, while Kendal added 20. Michael Glastetter scored 14 points for Kelly (1-0).
Avis White scored 22 points for Scott County Central (0-1), and Jeremy Johnson had 15.
Kelly will take on Scott City Thursday night in the semifinal round.
Bell City, seeded third, rebounded from a first-round upset loss to East Prairie by pounding seventh-seeded Oran 74-38.
A.J. Henry led all scorers with 18 points, while Blaine Stewart had 14 and Jeff Liggins had 12 for the Cubs (1-1).
Chase Seyer paced the Eagles (0-2) with 12 points.

The Bobcats trailed 12-10 after one quarter and only led 24-18 at halftime but outscored Bloomfield 13-6 in the third quarter to gather some breathing room.

No. 4 Leopold won its consolation bracket game 58-44 over No. 8 Zalma.
