Jackson High should once again have a very strong group of wrestlers this year, even though the team is younger than in years past."I really don't know how we'll do this year," said sixth-year Jackson coach Steve Wachter. "We have a really young team; we're only returning four seniors."Coming off a 6-2 season record in dual meets last year, several returning varsity lettermen will provide much needed leadership for a young Indian squad. Sophomore Ricky Feiner (112), junior Brett Stroud (119-125, a state qualifier from last season), junior Chris Brown (125), senior Adam Wachter (135, state qualifier), senior Cyle Huck (135, placed fifth in state), senior James Love (145-152) , junior Mark Wade (160-171, sectional qualifier), junior Andy Herndon (189) and junior Spencer Hobeck (215, sectional qualifier) make up Jackson's varsity squad this season.
Several JV grapplers are battling for varsity spots as well.
J.P. Sides (103, soph.), Josh Deneke (140-145 sr.), Seth Harrell (189 soph.), Gabe Koehler (161-171, soph.) Peter Ressler (215, soph.) and sophomore Luke Wade are all battling for varsity vacancies. Several freshmen are also in the running for these spots.
