GIRLS BASKETBALL

Notre Dame 62 Perryville 48

Deana McCormick scored 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the Notre Dame Lady Bulldogs answered a two-week layoff with a victory over visiting Perrvyille.

"Considering it was our first game in two weeks, I think we did all right," said Notre Dame coach Jerry Grim. "We didn't always play well, but we played hard."

The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Pirates were tied at 13 after the first quarter, but Notre Dame outscored Perryville 22-9 in the second quarter to take a 35-22 lead into halftime.

"We started out pressing more to get us moving than anything else and it did some good things for us," said Grim. "I think we tired them out a bit in the second quarter."

Lisa Millham, who also had five rebounds, scored 20 points for Notre Dame as the Lady Bulldogs improved to 10-2 with their only losses coming to 4A schools Cape Central and Jackson.

Jamie Amberger scored 15 points for Perryville (4-7), while Amanda Nuyt added 12.

"I thought we played well even though the score doesn't reflect it," said Perryville coach Vicki Lohmann.

Notre Dame's junior varsity team, led by Amanda Dirnberger's 12 points, won 34-26.
