Jackson will play 4 p.m. today in the tourney against Campbellsville, Ky.

Ford & Sons dropped a 3-1 decision to Tupelo, Miss.

Lee Essner took the loss, pitching all seven innings. Essner struck out six, walked none and allowed only four hits. Sean Bard had the lone RBI for Ford & Sons.

Cape will face Festus, Mo., today.

Cape (8-16) lost 9-7 late Wednesday in the second game of a doubleheader with the Southern Illinois Bullets. Mike Taylor had a home run and three RBIs in the loss.

Riverdogs fall to Waterloo

The Cape Girardeau Riverdogs lost 14-8 to the Waterloo Buds on Wednesday night in Waterloo, Ill.

Tyler Schlosser led the Riverdogs (5-8) with three hits, including a double, and two runs scored.

Jackson, Oran split in Babe Ruth

The Jackson Babe Ruth team split two games with Oran on Wednesday night, winning 5-2 in the opener before falling 6-5.

Austin McDowell was the winning pitcher for Jackson in the first game. He pitched a complete game, striking out eight and allowing four hits.

Jackson scored its five runs on just four hits.

In the nightcap, Trevor Irwin picked up the win for Oran.

Jackson fell to 3-1 with the loss.
