Forward Josh Scholl netted two goals in the first half, and the third-seeded Jackson boys soccer team upended host Seckman to advance to the Class 4 District 1 Tournament championship game with a 2-1 victory Monday night in Imperial, Missouri.
Scholl tipped in a shot from Justice Crosnoe about 10 minutes into the game. Scholl cut in diagonally and got a toe on the ball just as the Seckman goalkeeper was about to make a save.
"It wasn't a real hard shot," Jackson coach Zack Walton said. "Josh got a toe on it and [the goalkeeper] never did touch it."
About 20 minutes later, Hunter Crowden fed a pass to Scholl, who fired a shot inside the near post over the goalkeeper's shoulder.
"It was a good shot," Walton said.
Seckman scored about four minutes into the second half, but the second-seeded Jaguars never could get the equalizer behind Jackson goalkeeper Brayden Emmons, whom Walton said made about eight saves.
Jackson improved to 15-3-2 and will face top-seeded Eureka at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Seckman High School. The Wildcats defeated fourth-seeded Northwest (Cedar Hill) 1-0 in the other semifinal.
