Scott City freshman Braden Cox struck out eight batters in hurling a no-hitter in the Rams' 4-0 win at home against New Madrid County Central on Friday.
Cox walked one and hit one batter.
"He worked ahead the whole day," Scott City coach Jim May said. "He got a lot of one-pitch at-bats. His fastball and curve were working. He did a nice job."
Cox also had two hits and two RBIs for the Rams (3-3). Zach Carlyle added a pair of hits, including a double.

Jimmy Golden belted a home run and doubled as Chaffee remained unbeaten with a win at home.
Golden finished with three hits. Devon Yahn also hit a double and went 4 for 5 at the plate for Chaffee (5-0). Cody Payne and winning pitcher Storm Estes both added two hits.
Estes allowed two hits and no earned runs over five innings, striking out six and walking none.
Peyton Maddox was the losing pitcher for Bell City (0-2). He threw three innings and gave up six earned runs on 10 hits.

Abby Boyer scored two goals to lead the Bulldogs to victory over the Pirates and land host Notre Dame in Saturday's championship game of the Noon Optimist Club tournament.
Mackenzie McDaniel scored the other goal for Notre Dame (3-0). Jordan Nelson provided two assists and Karsen Powers dished out one.
Goalkeeper Madison Beulow made one save.
Sikeston's Laryssa McClellan scored the game-winning goal on an assist from Claudea Kuykendall as the Bulldogs prevailed over the Tigers in a consolation semifinal of the Noon Optimist Club tournament.
