Notre Dame survived multiple match points to post a season-opening three-game volleyball victory against host Farmington on Thursday.
After dropping the opener 25-20, the Bulldogs won the next two games 25-23, 27-25.
Notre Dame trailed 24-21 in the third game but won three straight points to pull even at 24-24. Farmington nudged ahead 25-24 for another match point, but the Bulldogs reeled off the final three points for the win.
Kate Edwards and Miranda Fowler both had eight kills for Notre Dame, and Myriah Bernard had four kills. Olivia Roth led the defense with 13 digs.
JV -- ND won in two games.
Advance and Leopold reached tonight's championship match with semifinal victories.
Advance needed three games to dispose of Meadow Heights, winning 28-26, 22-25, 26-24.
Leopold had an easier time against Woodland, sweeping 25-21, 25-13.
Denai Arnzen pounded six kills and added five digs for the Wildcats.
Sydney Eeftink recorded 11 assists and three digs, while Emily Elfrink contributed three kills, four digs, and five aces for Leopold.
In consolation action, Jackson's JV defeated Zalma 25-23, 25-16, while Saxony Lutheran beat Oak Ridge 25-15, 25-18.
Advance and Leopold will meet for the title at 7 p.m. Woodland and Meadow Heights will play for third at 6 p.m., while the Jackson JV and Oak Ridge will meet in the 5 p.m. consolation match.
Rivals Central and Jackson both won their opening-round games and will meet in today's 5:30 p.m. semifinal.
Jackson posted a 10-0 victory over Saxony Lutheran.
Law Duncan finished with a hat trick and added an assist to lead the Indians. Ricardo Ramirez pumped in a pair of goals.
Keagan Cavanah scored once and helped on another one, while Clayton Baker had a goal and two assists.
The Indians' Ryan Schlick, Austin Gammon and Dylan Blaylock each had one goal.
Austin Baker recorded the shutout in goal.
Central knocked off Marion, Ill., 2-1.
Notre Dame also advanced to the semifinals, where it will face Carbondale, Ill., a 5-3 winner over Sikeston, at 7:30 p.m. today.
Notre Dame (1-1) dispatched Murray, Ky., 6-0 after leading 5-0 at halftime.
Jonathan Lynch scored twice and assisted on two goals, while Logan Buchheit added a goal and an assist.
Matt Ponder, Carson Bruenderman and Philip Schuchardt added one goal apiece. Hunter Urhahn recorded an assist.
James Holloway made three saves for the shutout.
Casey Hotop went 2 for 4 at the plate and struck out two in a losing effort in the circle.
Destinie Herschbach went 2 for 3 for the Pirates (5-4).

Summer Burger drove in three runs in Notre Dame's 16-1 win over Chaffee. Brandi Glastetter went 3 for 4 in the victory.
Sadie Schaefer knocked in three runs in the Bulldogs' 16-1 win over Scott City. Pitcher Katie Bond only allowed one hit in the win.
