Sophomore Allison Bray carded a 1-under-par 34 to lead the Notre Dame girls golf team to a season-opening victory in a three-team meet at the Union County Country Club in Anna, Illinois.

The Bulldogs finished with a 167 total to easily outdistance Anna-Jonesboro, which finished 27 strokes back at 194. Murphysboro (Ill.) finished third at 231.

VOLLEYBALL Woodland Tournament

Bell City drew the top seed in Pool B following a 5-1 performance in Monday's opening round of the Woodland Invitational Tournament.

The Cubs split with Meadow Heights 18-20, 19-17 in the first set, then swept Zalma 19-13, 19-10 and Oak Ridge 19-13, 19-15. The Panthers also finished 5-1 with straight-set victories over Oak Ridge 19-12, 19-12 and Zalma 19-14, 19-15. The tie-breaker between Bell City and Meadow Heights -- head-to-head competition -- also resulted in a tie. The Cubs (2-0-1) ultimately earned the top seed through the next tie-breaker -- point differential from games with Zalma and Oak Ridge.

Zalma (2-2) beat Oak Ridge (0-3) 19-15, 21-20 to take third in pool play.

Pool A begins tonight with Advance (1-0), Leopold, Saxony Lutheran and Woodland competing.

Sikeston 25 25 Central 17 17

Bailey Manley and Anne Wilferth each had two kills as the Tigers fell on the road to the Bulldogs in their season opener.

Kassidy Pannier dished out eight assists for Central (0-1).

Cheyenne Dobbs served three aces but it was not enough as the Eagles were edged by the Indians in three sets on the road in their season opener.

McKenzie Belt and Kaitlyn Wittu added two aces apiece for Oran (0-1). Brianna Stause had two kills and two blocks for the Eagles.

Macey Hall blasted a home run as the Pirates opened their season with a four-inning win over the visiting Trojans.

Hall was also the winning pitcher for Perryville (1-0). She pitched a complete game and allowed two earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

Kailyn Fahnestock and Courtney Wingerter each had a double for the Pirates.

Grace Mirly hit a two-run inside-the-park home run and also belted a triple and a double to lead the Crusaders in the three-inning road rout of the Black Cats.

Mirly finished the game with five RBIs.

Kelli Brunke picked up her second win in the circle. She pitched a complete game and had one strikeout. She also went 3-for-3 at the plate with withe five RBIs.

Logan Welker added a triple for the Crusaders(2-0).

Alyssa Huson took the loss for Herculaneum (0-1). She recorded two strikeouts and walked 10.
