The Notre Dame boys basketball team won its season opener Tuesday night in the first round of the SEMO Conference tournament.
Notre Dame, seeded third for the eight-team event at Sikeston, knocked off sixth-seeded Dexter 57-50.
Jacob Tolbert led the Bulldogs with 23 points, while Alex Beussink added 10. Notre Dame built a 36-18 halftime lead.
Notre Dame will face second-seeded Central in the semifinals at 8:30 p.m. Thursday. No. 5 Jackson faces No. 1 Sikeston at 7 p.m. in the other semifinal.

The Jackson girls claimed 11 first-place finishes to claim first overall at the Central Mega Meet.
Jackson's Allison Hobbs made two state qualifying times, winning the 200 freestyle in 2 minutes, 2.39 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:04.49.
Hobbs also helped the Indians to victory in the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay, which won in a state-qualifying 3:56.53.
Jackson's Kyleigh Troxel won the 100 freestyle and the 200 IM, posting a state-qualifying 2:20.66 in the latter. Troxel also was a member of the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.
